Max available positions
Interdisciplinary PhD programme in Logic (mathematics, computer science, philosophy, linguistics). Students will start with an orientation phase during which they develop a research project with a mentor. Note that the average Dutch PhD takes four years whereas the EMECW13 grant only covers 34 months. After the 10 months of orientation phase, there are only 24 months left for the thesis research which may not be enough. If you intend to apply for this, your letter of motivation is very important. Please explain carefully why you wish to do a PhD in Amsterdam, in which field of logic, and who you intend to work with in Amsterdam. If your letter does not explain this, your application will have no chance. It is normally very helpful to have had prior contact with ILLC professors and get their support before submitting the application.
