Information
In the laboratory of organic synthesis, several new multicomponent reactions have been developed that lead to diverse libraries of heterocycles with several bioactivities including anticancer activity, antiviral activities, anticonvulsant activities and MMP-x inhibiting activities. The student will be asked to prepare such a library using one of the new MCR methods, perhaps after some process optimization. The biological activities are screened in collaboration with the Rega institute or other groups at KU Leuven. Techniques learned: organic synthesis and characterisation (NMR, MS, IR, UV, etc..). HPLC separations.
