E.coli is commonly constitutes healthy gut flora, but certain forms of E.coli cause a range of diseases in both humans and animals. Based on the core genome it is possible to identify distinct phylogentic groups within the E.coli population. In this project the differences between these groups mainly based on the different accessory genome should be analyzed. The role of the different genes in metabolic pathways and the influence to the biological properties i.e. virulence, resistance status or host specificity has to be determined.
